Final-round notes: Seaview Open

The Seaview Open featured more than 250 players competing in 15 divisions, and 12 of the champions prevailed after holding at least a share of the first-round lead.

Sihan Sandhu notched his second straight victory at Seaview Golf Club by winning Boys 7 with a 2-under-par total. He carded back-to-back rounds of 35 and won by nine strokes over Samuel Duran and David Oliver IV.

Ben Kablack entered the final round with a one-stroke lead in Boys 6 & Under, and he broke away from the pack with a bogey-free 31 in the final round. He carded an eagle and three birdies Sunday en route to a 3-under-par total and a 12-stroke victory over Jaden Worden.

In Boys 11, Connery Meyer turned a two-stroke deficit into a three-stroke victory after a tournament-best round of 7-under-par 65. His final round included eight birdies and just one bogey, which helped him post a 5-under-par total and claim the title over two-time World Champion Michael Thorbjornsen, who finished second at 2-under-par.

In Girls 11, Michaela Morard began the final round trailing Savannah Grewal by one stroke. A birdie on No. 11 gave Morard a one-stroke lead, and birdies on Nos. 13 and 14 extended her lead to three, which proved to be her final margin of victory. In all, Morard carded four birdies in her final-round 71 and won with a 2-over-par total.

By carding a final-round 72 in Boys 13-14, Aman Gupta joined Morard and Meyer as the third comeback champion Sunday. His 5-over-par total was three strokes better than Lukas Clark and Connor Looney.
